Project Title: Supporting returnees and host communities to restore their livelihoods, create income, and improve and manage natural resources peacefully for short-term relief and long-term food security (Triple Nexus).

  1. Situational ContextNatural resources degradation, partly caused by poor natural resource management practices, is both a driver of and furthered by food insecurity and localized conflict especially in communities with high numbers of returnees.
  2. Problem to be addressed;Food insecurity, lacking income opportunities and low resilience in combination with violent conflict resolution methods (including GBV) among returnees and host communities.
  3. Objectives of the Project.The livelihoods and resilience of returnees and host communities in selected counties in Eastern and Central Equatoria has improved through increased food security as a result of more sustainable management and governance of natural resources, through alternative income opportunities, and through non-violent conflict resolution and GBV prevention.
  4. Humanitarian Component-(Food Security)Outcome 1: Through improved agricultural and Natural Resources Management-NRM practices, communities (with focus on returnees and host communities) are able to meet their immediate needs, increase food production and sustain long-term food security.
